Ed's awareness Day 6-How do you feel about your body with eds?

Day 6 – How You Feel About Your Body Today

Living with EDS is complicated. I personally have a Love-Hate relationship with my body. It often does not cooperate with the things I want to do. Things shift out of place, throb, and ache. I often refer to my body as a meat suit that my bones are trying to escape from.

Some days I can't stand due to severe leg pain and some days I can't feel my feet. On other days my body feels weighed down and heavy and moving at all is difficult. On these bad days, I stay home in my safe place where I rest and recover and wait til a better day comes.

While waiting it out I try to focus on the blessings in my life. Like how EDS has made me slow down and appreciate the little things that used to get lost in all the rushing around. I have also been blessed with an amazing husband and 7 beautifully wonderful children. Another passion of mine is to go online and leave positive messages for fellow Zebras who are struggling. Lifting others up helps me to feel better too.

We are stronger together!

Then there are the better days when I can get out of the house and go to my Sons soccer game, play a little basketball (h-o-r-s-e) with the kids, or go out with my hubby.  Some days I can go to church and hang out with my mom friends or have a friend over to visit. Hanging out for me is exhausting but these ladies make such a difference in my life that it is totally worth needing a recovery day. On these days I tend to push a little and usually pay for it later but to feel halfway normal really makes you want to enjoy it as much as you can.

How are you feeling about your body?

What do you do while relaxing and recovering?

Tell us all about it on Facebook
