EDS Awareness day 13

Day 13 – Point To Your Pain

If people could see your pain, what would it look like?

For me I tend to think of the image above.

In reality, there are several ways to classify pain. One is to separate it into acute pain and chronic (long-term) pain. Acute pain usually comes on suddenly and lasts for a limited time. Some type of damage to tissue – such as bone, muscle, or organs – often causes it. When it happens, it can cause anxiety or other emotional issues.

Chronic pain lasts longer and generally resists medical treatment. It is usually linked to long-term illnesses, like EDS and HSD. In some cases like fibromyalgia, pain is one of the main traits of the condition. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to have more than one Chronic pain condition.

Both acute and chronic pain can be overwhelming. Both can affect and be affected by a person's state of mind. The fact that it's prolonged and in some cases constant – can make you more likely to get depression and anxiety. These issues can make the pain seem worse.

Many people who take medication for chronic pain still have breakthrough pain. Those are flare-ups of pain that happen even when you take your pain meds regularly. Often times breakthrough pain can come out of the blue. Or it can be set off by something seemingly unimportant like rolling over in bed bending or stretching to get something

Join us on our Facebook group and share with us a visual image of your pain. This could be a drawing, you pointing to where you experience pain in a photo, highlighting areas of pain with color or a meme that just makes you laugh.

I see you…

I hear you…

And I am so glad you are here ❤️
